Got this email from Mahendra Mapagunaratne in Toronto: the person who coined the term Carrom Ball.

Hi there
Hope you are entranced by T. M. Dilshan's deliberate scoops over the wicket keeper's head which often results in boundaries and sixes during the current World Twenty/20.

Anyone for Dilscoops? Tastier than the best of sundaes...
In future more batsmen would take his lead and Dilscoop no doubt.

The Dilscoop goes straight over the wicket keeper's head whereas the Paddle Scoop goes towards fine leg - a la Misbah ul Huq.

Yours in cricket

Dilshan plays it really well. But this shot already has a name. This shot is called Marillier Shot. Douglas Marillier of Zimbabwe was the first one to play this shot so well. So this shot has already been named after him.
